Today, I had to try and look for an answer to the technical problem I was experiencing on the website and looked in the forum to find answers. I found a topic on there about picky postcrossers and decided to read. I haven't had any bad experiences so far with any rude members (although I do think its rude when they don't write a thank you message), but its almost scary what some other members have had to put up with!
I suggest looking at the topic in the general forum to see what I mean. I will give you a little bit of a hint on here though...
One girl sent a postcard, only that have the recipient write in the message that it was by far the worst postcard that she had ever received. How absolutely terrible is that for anyone to say?! I mean, we all try to send postcards that fit in with wishlists, but if we aren't able to do that, we still have to send a card. We can't pick and choose who we get to send cards to, so we all do our best. If you don't like the card, then don't keep it but to insult someone like that is absolutely terrible. I hope that she reported that user to whoever runs that website.
I think the only "rudeness" I've come across is sometimes I don't get a thank you message from those that I send a card to. Its only happened three times but I still find it a little rude. I always write very personal messages of thanks to every person that I receive a card from. I think its the least I can do for someone who has taken the time to choose a card for me, write something nice and then go to the post office to mail it. I don't care whether it is a fancy tourist card or whether it the a square made out of a cereal box, I consider them all gifts. I can't possibly imagine not liking a card I get and I can't imagine not sending a message of thanks. Hell, I've got thank you messages in languages I can't understand but you know what, at least they tried! And I appreciate it greatly. If I get a rude message saying that I' e sent a boring postcard or the "worst" postcard, not only will I broadcast their username on here but I will report them to the site owner and quit postcrossing altogether. This is supposed to be for fun and to receive cards from many people and make at least a little bit of a connection. Receiving a postcard at the end of the day is like finding a $5 dollar bill in your pocket. Its a surprise and its always cool and welcome!
SO for anyone sending me a postcard, send whatever you want! I appreciate every single postcard I get and will never in a million years send you an awful message and I will always send you a nice reply no matter what

First post!
I've never done this before and I almost don't know what to say! I mean, what do i talk about here other than the fact that I like postcards and like sending them?
I guess I can talk about how all of this started....I saw on facebook (yes, the almighty facebook), a post by a penpal of mine saying that she had received a postcard from Russia. After a few months of seeing these posts, I clicked on it, curious as to why she was getting so many postcards and from different places all over the world. I looked at the website and thought, WOW, why didn't I click on that post earlier>! I could be getting postcards from all over the world! Sheesh!
Anyways, I signed up for an account and started sending postcards right away. The first few days was hard because I had to wait for cards to be received and was thrilled when the first one finally arrived (which meant that I would be getting one soon!)
After receiving and sending nearly 40, there were definately a few things that were starting to upset me. Not anything to do with the postcards I was receiving though!! Oh, I love every single one that I have ever received. What I was getting annoyed and frustrated about was that it seemed that everyone who's address I got had specific lists of cards that they want and ones that they don't want. I can understand that there are some die hard collectors out there and that it would be nice to receive ones that you really want but come on!! I have one store that i regularily purchase postcards at and some of the requests really don't fit into the selection I have available to me. Whenever I do find different cards, I try to buy a few so that I have a selection to give out to people that do like certain things (like maps or buildings or animals) but I don't have an 18th century French painting on a postcard or modern European art deco or something as damn specific as that. I try my best to cater to the card requests that are on profiles....actually, the people who give me an idea of what they like will typically get something along those lines. Those who have a longer list of what they don't want than what they want will get whatever card I feel like sending....thats it. I try my best but sometimes people's demands on here are way out of line and impossible for me to live up to
You know what I've loved so far? The messages! I love how so many people have given me travelling tips to countries and I love how people tell me about their day. I read every single message and often send a reply on the site (when i register the card) based on what someone has written. I don't do the generic "thanks" as I have often received, I let you know how much I really appreciate the fact that you have chosen a card for me, written me a note and mailed it. I have had maps drawn on postcards that designate the best areas to visit, amazing stickers, beautiful envelopes (not necessary but I do keep them with the postcard as a souvenir) and lovely messages. How can I not be thankful for that?!
